We will remember them... My child looks at me And asks "Why Remember? Why think of war, remember the dead?" I say, and I mention "We MUST remember So the that wars will not repeat again" "But why," she continues "But why are they crying? Why do they weep, with tears streaming down?" I say, and I mention "They cry to remember. They cry for the ones that will no longer grow old." We stand for a moment We stand for a minute We stand, we stand with our eyes looking down We think of them The ones who have fallen We stand, we stand with our head sadly bowed. And They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. My child looks around And asks "What are they wearing? What is that splash of red on their coat?" I say, and I mention I say, "That's a poppy, That's a flower that grew in the war." "But why," she continues "But why wear the poppy? Why wear that flower of red o'er their heart?" I say and I mention "We wear to remember We wear the poppy to remember those who died." We stand for a moment We stand for a minute We stand, we stand with our eyes looking down We think of them The ones who have fallen We stand, we stand with our head sadly bowed. And They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember We will remember We will remember them.
